This is a rather small, reddish Nomada which is believed to use several Lasioglossum species as its host. Measuring 4-6.5mm, females have a predominantly black head and thorax with red markings and a reddish abdomen with variable black marks. Males are similar but with much more yellow coluration. It is difficult to differentiate from other Nomada and is best used using a microscope.

Distribution: Occurs widely in southern and central Europe, from Portugal eastwards to Greece and Bulgaria. It occurs as far north as Germany.

Flight Period: Flies in two generations between April and August.

Habitat: Information is sparse but it has been found in flowery wasteground, maquis and around coastal cliffs.

Flowers Visited: Unknown

Personal Records: I have recorded this species once, outside the two of Albufeira in southern Portugal. Here a female was found flying around partially vegetated ground in a brownfield area adjacent to coastal cliffs.
